Diehards forever
City dads pray harder for DOJ secretary's full recovery
Barangay captains from the city's 180 barangays gathered yesterday morning for a special unity prayer seeking full recovery of Justice Secretary Raul Gonzalez Sr.
Initiated by the Association of Barangay Captains in Jaro District, a major turn-out was seen with the barangay chiefs similarly saying they came to pray even harder for the Secretary's health.
The Ilonggo Secretary was hospitalized for days following a successful kidney transplant operation in Metro Manila. His donor was his longtime driver as efforts failed to secure a match within the immediate family.
The feisty Justice Secretary has since been known to have the solid support of Iloilo City barangay officials with only a minority now out of his camp.
Among those spotted were City Proper barangay captains Irene Ong and Bobby Divinagracia who milled with other barangay captains after the early morning mass.
"We are happy that the transplant went well and we continue to pray that our beloved Secretary will soon be back to the best of health," Divinagracia said when reached for comment by The News Today (TNT).
Ong for her part echoed Divinagracia's statement while thanking fellow barangay chiefs in Jaro for gathering the group.
