Coffee Thursdays
The better world
I am again confronted with monotony, the mindless self indulgence that provokes the inner restlessness in me. A cup of coffee couldn't pacify this immoderation, I desiderate for another cup to justify an awakening of my senses. I need to do something, not just sit here and allow my mind to bleed and philosophize about our mundane existence.
I turn on the television, as my hand impulses on the remote, I scrutinize these endless adverts on shampoo products claiming to straighten curly hair when in reality it cannot. A topical solution couldn't permanently reconstruct the genetic component of the body just by shampooing.
Moreover, too much commercials about whitening commodities puzzle me. Why people consider white skin beautiful when there's exquisiteness on what is natural and real. Another thing I have noticed is the practice of celebrity worships as institutionalized by the media. I see a country of commercialism. I can't stand another minute; I dash away from the screen as I am allergic to certain level of contrivance. When there's too much time to think, a person becomes an immaculate listener.
I deliberate about the world we live in, W.H. Auden suggests: Every human being is interested in two kinds of worlds: the Primary, everyday world which he knows through his senses, and a Secondary world or worlds which he not only can create in his imagination, but which he cannot stop himself creating. These remind me of our self paradigms that shape our daily lives. We fashioned our minds on how to think, respond then later transform into accomplishment that defines ourselves. We chose to see our world subjectively, and we reciprocate it passively most of the time.
These ramblings are just my words, our actions elucidate our function. Nevertheless, in this world there's no such thing as reality, only perception. There's no truth only a common moral recognition. Perhaps, the society creates a general picture that is embedded into the structure of the human mind, of what comprises the beauty and the beast, the good and the bad, the wrong and the right.
If we reflect on our choices and actions it is so much easier to recognize the meaning of how we perceive life.
Do you believe in yourself? Do you think people treat you differently because you are male, female, gay, lesbian, young, old, dark or fair? Does your look affect the way you think and what does your appearance say to you? Do you let people treat you by your facial presentation or your behavior?
What are you doing to make your life purposeful? Do you follow or do you lead? What are your thoughts when you wake up and how do you end another day? How do you affect the people around you? Will you change?
I always think everyone should be liable, regardless of differences in our beliefs we intertwine in the shared life that affects one another. Understanding our mistakes, patterns and lessons gives us awareness of our roles in the society. The world we create consists of not a single or group of people, but meaningful movement of every being that is alive. We are all connected.
As I sit here with my third cup of coffee I realize I am not interested in the better world, I am not affected by general opinion or media commercialism, I object that people should only conform to what is present. I believe we are constantly creating the world we live in. There's so much potential within us, and being better is far different from the best.
