Comelec proclaims Dumangas, Iloilo vice mayor
The Commission on Elections (Comelec) declared Hernan Biron. Jr. as the official winner of the vice mayoral seat in Dumangas, Iloilo Monday evening.
Biron, the brother of Iloilo fourth district Rep. Ferjenil Biron, garnered 12,497 votes and won by a margin of only 178 votes over his opponent Rose Duremdes Doromal.
The declaration of the official winner in Dumangas was delayed after the Biron camp petitioned for the recount of 25 election returns due to alleged irregularities. However, the 2nd Division of the Comelec granted the recount of only 14 election returns.
Biron took his oath of office before Vice Governor Rolex Suplico at their headquarters in Dumangas after his proclamation.
Meanwhile, the camp of Doromal refused to concede defeat and instead vowed to exhaust other optioans. (PNA)
