Photographic Society of Iloilo
The Photographic Society of Iloilo turned 27 and it held two events. The opening salvo, which was a photographic contest and exhibit was held last Sept. 8, 2007 at Newpost General Luna Street, while the main night was held last Sept. 15 at the Sarabia Manor Hotel and Convention Center.
At the exhibit, Fr. John, a special guest cited reasons why the Church has been supportive of art. He said that the artist exercises creative dominion of the universe and himself. He added that society needs artists as they bridge cultural heritage for the common good. "This world needs beauty so that it won't sink into despair," he quoted Pope John Paul II.
Indeed. The photographs that were displayed elicited smiles, laughter and even perked the interests of the guests. The guests were asked to judged these photos and Dr. Vic Pido came out the winner. Jun Rojas and Francis dela Cruz won second and third place, respectively.
At the main night, an exhibit of the members works was held, too. There were recognitions and entertainment numbers, too.

QUOTE. Words piously uttered are not magical formulae guaranteeing good fruits. External acts of worship can be mere formalism unless they spring from a loving heart. - Follow Me, a pocket guide to Daily Scriptural Prayer by David Rosage.
