Hanna destroys 47 houses in city
Fourty-seven houses in Iloilo City were totally destroyed while 276 others were partially damaged due to strong winds and heavy rains as tropical depression Hanna leaves the country Monday morning. The affected communities are those in the coastal and low-lying areas of Iloilo City.
Records from the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) showed 16 of the totally destroyed houses were from the City Proper.
The affected barangays in the city proper are Rizal Pala-Pala II, Rizal Pala-Pala I, Gen. Hughes, Rima, Rizal Estanzuela, Ortiz, Ma. Clara and Tanza Baybay. In Rizal Pala-Pala, one person was reportedly injured.
La Paz district comes next with 11 totally destroyed houses and 46 are partially damaged. The affected barangays are Jereos, Gustilo, Tabuc Suba, Baldoza and Ingore. Molo district has nine totally destroyed houses and four partially damaged.
The social welfare also recorded five totally destroyed houses and three partially damaged houses in Jaro district. While, in Arevalo there are five houses that are totally damaged and six totally damaged houses. In Mandurriao, there is one house totally damaged and two houses were partially damaged.
Social workers in the city are still validating the extent of damage in other barangays in the city. The families whose houses were totally destroyed either sought shelter in their families houses or stayed in the designated evacuation centers.
