Youth remarks…
I shared the article entitled "Survey shows tourists speak well of Ilonggo hospitality" (taken from The News Today) to my Fourth Year Josephian students last week. I asked them to say something about what they've realized after the sharing. And here are some of their views:
"Iloilo City and Guimaras continue to reap impressive reactions from foreign and local tourists. The recent survey conducted by the Asia Pacific Projects inc. (APPI) showed that aside from food, tourists also look forward to Ilonggo hospitality."-- Allyssa Kaye Castañeda
"The idea of having a survey of tourists and what they think about Iloilo because for one it really does benefit us especially our tourism industry. With the survey we are able to find out what keeps them coming back here in our place." -- Juan Gabriel Guevara
"It only proves that the Philippine tourism industry is really getting a positive remark from foreigners. Iloilo City and Guimaras are always visited by both foreign and local tourists and were given thumbs up for their food and delicacies. Aside from the delicious cuisine, we are also praised for being "malambing". -- Visamarie Olive Cañal
"Since our place is considered to have a great number of tourists who visit each year, we have to continue doing our part for the improvement of our environment. The government should devise plans on how to improve more the tourism industry here. Our task is to help maintain the beauty of our city." -- Denise Patricia Granada
"As an Ilonggo, with the good news, I can say that I'm proud of our place. Iloilo is just a small place but indeed a beautiful one and is gradually improving economically. I'm quite flattered as they mentioned "hospitality" and "loving people" as reasons why tourism industry here boosts up. Hope we can maintain this good reputation for the betterment of Iloilo and our country." -- Rapunzel Grace Lim
"It shows that our good attitudes are already exposed to other nationals and would have a great effect in our tourism industry. With this, the government shall continue to improve the different sites that the tourists prefer to visit." -- Mabielle Rabi
"I am actually flattered to hear the news! I do agree, seeing my parents treat our Korean neighbors is one of the best examples depicting Ilonggo hospitality." -- Maria Czarina Go
"It is a very good news that tourists said good things about Iloilo City. The image of the city is uplifted and there's a great possibility for this place to become more famous. I think the Ilonggos should keep up the good work. And I really agree on the news about hospitality of the Ilonggos based on my own experience. -- Choi Ji Su
My students really gave good views about the good news. I just do hope that we, Ilonggos will do our part to maintain the "title" because in one way or another, this virtue does help uplift the tourism industry of Iloilo. FYI, Metro Iloilo and Guimaras contributed some P7 billion to the local economy last year, said Jose Roni Peñalosa, executive director of Metro Iloilo-Guimaras Economic Development Council (MIGEDC). Hopefully this year it will double as one of the results of this latest survey conducted by the APPI.
