The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) Municipal Office of Isabela headed by MARO Jose Renato Defiño, installed 53 Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries (ARBs) recently in a 43-hectare lot in Hacienda Emma, Brgy. Camang-camang, Isabela town, Negros Occidental.
Hacienda Emma, formerly owned by Norberto and Victoria Gemotea Gayotin, whose land was placed under the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program coverage and processed under the Voluntary Offer to Sell scheme.
The ARBs will take over the cultivation of the land after this year's harvest season.
Evelyn Colimbo, DAR provincial officer said the ARBs and their families were happy that their long wait is over. She added that the installation went on without any resistance.
Colimbo reminded the beneficiaries of their responsibility to take care of the lands awarded to them and should meet their obligations such as paying taxes due to the local government and the land amortization at the Land Bank of the Philippines.
Ernesto Estanda, DAR provincial legal officer, reminded the ARBs of the importance of the CLOA and their liabilities should they violate its provisions. (PIA/cad)
