7th regional statistical congress to tackle MDG goals
The 7th Western Visayas Statistical Congress slated October 25-26 will present papers which deal with the eight Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) by presenters coming from various sectors.
The congress, which is steered by the National Statistical Coordinating Board (NSCB) for the celebration of National Statistics Month, will have a total of 13 papers for discussion for the duration of the congress.
For the first day, the following will be tackled: 2006 Family Planning Survey Results, 2006 Maternal and Child health Survey Results, Highlights of the Procedures of the 2007 POPCEN and Uses of Census Data: an analysis, MDG Program in Western Visayas, Maternal Health: Looking into Adolescent Potential Early Marriages Utilizing the Illegitimate Births and pre-Marriage Counseling Profiles of POPCOM 6, and Leading the People Living with HIV AIDS Towards a Productive Life. A highlight in the last paper for the day will be some testimonies from Persons Living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHIV/AIDS).
Six papers will be presented during the second day, which include Beliefs and Practices of Muslim Women in Mindanao, Teaching practices of Math and Science Teachers, Towards a community Managed Peace and Development Initiative in Leon, Iloilo, heavy metals in Iloilo River Sediments: A Chemometrical Evaluation, Rapid assessment of Acute consequences of Stranded Oil Spill in the Mangrove Ecosystem: the Cases of Oil Spill in southern Guimaras, and Gross Provincial Domestic Product of Guimaras Province.
In the afternoon of the October 26, a joint Closing Ceremonies of the 7th Western Visayas Statistical Congress and the 18th National Statistics Month will be held, where stakeholders and partners will be recognized for their contribution to the celebration and the development of the statistics as discipline.
