Super regions infra projects are now 50% complete -- DPWH
The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) said that the construction works for all Super Regions priority infrastructure development projects are now 50% accomplished.
DPWH Secretary Hermogenes Ebdane Jr. said in a press report that the Super Regions priority infrastructure development projects which were outlined by President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo during her State-of the-Nation Address will be completed before year 2010.
Western Visayas is included under the Central Philippines Super Regions. Central Philippines super region comprises Regions V (Bicol Region), VI (Western Visayas), VII (Central Visayas) and VIII, plus the provinces of Palawan and Romblon.
Secretary Ebdane said during the NBN Channel 4 "The Cabinet Speaks" program that all infrastructure projects will be opened by late 2009 and to be fully completed by early 2010.
It will be recalled that President Arroyo in her SONA ordered the fast tracking of the rehabilitation and construction of infrastructure projects under the Super Regions strategy, a development concept aimed at harnessing the natural competitive advantages of major areas of the country as well as that of knowledge and technology.
Through the Super Regions concept, development is being brought back to the people at a faster rate in terms of physical infrastructure, development of human capital and peaceful communities, Secretary Ebdane said during the TV program. (PIA/T.Villavert)
