'Illegal possession of rice, noodles' leads to arrest of 4 men in Estancia
For bearing gift packs of rice, noodles and canned goods, four young men were arrested in Estancia, Iloilo and remain in police custody.
The "by-chance" arrest, according to police, came after information reached authorities on the gift-giving activity of the group. While highly proper and legal to be generous in this town, cops apparently had to do the arrest with the four young men identified to a reelectionist barangay official here.
To worsen the arrested four's condition, their candidate, reelectionist Barangay Captain Boy Navarro of Barangay Tacbuyan is reportedly a die-hard of former Estancia Mayor Rene Cordero.
In a phone interview, PO1 Richard Guardialao told The News Today (TNT) that official status of the four was ";under investigation and under custody." No official word as of yet on what crime the four committed with bags of rice, noodles and canned goods recovered in their possession Sunday evening.
The arrested gift-bearers were 18 year-old Rene Balacano, 20 year-old Remedio Esmidio, 21 year-old Cesar Banez and 21 year-old Nick Barres.
