Calinog leads 2007 Nutrition Awardees
The municipality of Calinog led this year's awardees during the Nutrition Month Culmination Program and Awarding Ceremony of the province of Iloilo spearheaded by the Iloilo Provincial Nutrition Committee and the provincial government held at the Provincial Capitol yesterday.
Calinog was declared as the 2007 Most Outstanding Municipal Nutrition Committee winning P12,000 cash prize. The municipal nutrition committee of New Lucena came in second with P6,000 cash prize, Concepcion, third with P5,000, Sta. Barbara, fourth with P4,000 and Janiuay, fifth with P3,000.
Brgy. Banban, Grande was the Most Outstanding Barangay Nutrition Committee followed by Brgy. Bololacao, New Lucena and Brgy. Hamul-awon, Concepcion.
Hannah Paredes of Brgy. Hamul-awon, Concepcion was adjudged as Most Outstanding Barangay Nutrition Scholar. The first runner up was Daisy Mae Penit, second runner up, Mercedita Patubo and third runner up, Leonora Servidad.
The Most Supportive Provincial Nutrition Committee Members were Mr. Mario Nillos of the Provincial Planning & Development Coordinator, Ms. Neneth Pador of the PSWDO and Dr. Carmen Bayate of the Provincial Health Office (PHO).
Also, cited as Most Supportive PNTWG Members were Elias Sandig of the Provincial Agriculture Office, Evelina Sustento of the Provincial Planning & Development Office, Remedios Huesca of UP BIDANI, Jo Bayona of the PHO. Other awardees included Best Performing Nutrition Workers and Most Supportive Political Leaders in Nutrition Program.
Special awards for best practices in nutrition program were also presented during the awarding ceremony such as the milk supplementation program of the province of Iloilo dubbed as "BIP KA" and awarded as one of the 5 Most Outstanding Nutrition Program in the Philippines for 2007 by Nestle Philippines. Other special awardees include the "Kalusugan Para Sa Lahat" program of the Sta. Barbara and "Integrated School Health and Nutrition Program" of Badiangan which were included in the top 10 of the Most Outstanding Nutrition Program in the Philippines by Nestle Philippines.
In 2006, the "Integrated Malnutrition Rehabilitation w/ Community Information" program of Calinog and "Integrated Health & Nutrition in a Community Managed Health & Nutrition Post" program of New Lucena were also included in the top 5 of the Nestle Philippines award. (PIA)
