Mabilog ensures nephew's victory in SK federation race
One of the four wannabes in the race for Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) federation president has reportedly withdrawn because of the intercession of Vice Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog.
However, two other aspirants are still on the go, ready to face the vice mayor's nephew John.
Mabilog yesterday confirmed that Donnalyn Rose Acap, daughter of Councilor Lyndon Acap, will no longer run as SK federation president. He said, he was able to convince the councilor to withdraw the plan of his daughter to run for election.
It was not immediately known whether there were considerations which prompted Acap to let go of his daughter's plan. He was not available for comment at press time.
Acap is a first year BS Management student at the University of the Philippines in the Visayas while Mabilog is a first year BS Marine Transportation.
In an interview, Mabilog said he also went to talk with Councilor Armand Parcon over the plan of his daughter to run for SK federation president.
However, the outcome of Mabilog's talk with Councilor Parcon yielded negative result as the latter decried the moves of the vice mayor in asking him to let go of his daughter's plan.
Parcon considered Mabilog's action as a "threat."
Parcon's daughter Frances Grace is a first year AB English student at the West Visayas State University.
Mabilog clarified that he was not at all threatening the councilor. He was even surprised when Parcon went on air and poured out his grievances against him.
Mabilog said Parcon, being a three-termer councilor, should know his politics. All the things could be discussed but not over the airlanes, he said.
Mabilog said Parcon should have called him personally as the matter was "between me and him and not with the public."
Apparently irritated over Parcon's response, Mabilog said he will help his nephew in his candidacy.
"I extend help to people who are not members of my family, how much more to my nephew," said Mabilog.
The vice mayor, however, assured he will not personally go out and campaign to the SK chairmen.
"As vice mayor, I know my obligations, they (candidates) should be the one to campaign and let it be a healthy competition," said Mabilog.
Meanwhile, Mabilog has yet to meet with Councilor Antonio Pesina on the plan of his daughter Kesha, a third year high school at the Collegio de las Hijas de Jesus.
