WV town gets crown national nutrition award
The town of Nabas in Aklan province was cited by President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo in the recent annual National Nutrition Awarding ceremony.
President Arroyo presented the CROWN award to the LGU of Nabas, Aklan. The CROWN or Consistent Regional Outstanding Winner in Nutrition is given to areas that have been outstanding regional winners for three consecutive years.
The Malacañang press report disclosed that Nabas, Aklan shared the awards with Asipulo, Ifugao; Plaridel, Bulacan; Atimonan, Quezon; Pasig City; and Davao City.
The President took time off from her busy schedule to personally award the 25 LGUs and three BNS chosen by the National Nutrition Council for their outstanding work in reducing the prevalence of malnutrition in the country.
During the awarding ceremony, the President cited the winners saying that their work best exemplifies the concerted fight against hunger and poverty.
Other awards presented during the ceremony were: the CROWN Maintenance Award, the Nutrition Honor Award and the National Outstanding BNS award.
For Nutrition Honor Award, the awardees are: Pulilan, Bulacan; Inabanga, Bohol; Cabuyao, Laguna; Panabo City;
Second Year Maintenance CROWN award: Uson, Masbate; Libona, Bukidnon; Calamba City; Aritao, Nueva Viscaya;
First Year Maitenance CROWN award: Sudipen, La Union; Cagayan Province; Marinduque Province; Boac, Mariduque; Talisay City; Mandaue City; Maasin City; Zamboanga Sibugay Province; Buug, Zamboanga Sibugay; Compostela Valley Province; Nabunturan, Compostela Valley; and
National Outstanding BNS: Adelina Indapan, Barangay Casisang, Malaybalay City; Edna Agora, Brgy. Bagong Silang, Sta. Cruz, Marinduque; and Rebecca Aguilar, Brgy. Gayola, Kidapawan City.
"Marapat lang na purihin natin sila, mga awardees ng ating taong-bayan, para sa masigasig at natatanging pagsisikap ninyo tungo sa lubusang pagsugpo sa gutom at kahirapan. Maraming salamat sa inyo,” President said during the awarding ceremony. (PIA6/T.Villavert)
