UPV faculty wins best poster presentation award in int'l forum
The research paper of Dr. Alice Joan G. Ferrer, a faculty member of the University of the Philippines Division of Social Sciences, bested 40 other entries worldwide to win the Best Poster Presentation Award during the Forum 11-Global Forum for Health Research held in Beijing China recently.
Dr. Ferrer's poster entitled "Targeting Women for Maternal Health Care Services in Urban Poor Communities in the Philippines" qualified under the young researchers under 40 category under 'maternal deaths.'
The gathering which anchored on the theme "Equitable Access: Research challenges for health in developing countries" brought together several hundred policy-makers, researchers and research leaders, and representatives of development agencies, research institutions and the private sector to address the gaps in health research.
It also provided an opportunity for presentations and exchanges of views on key issues on the global health agenda.
Dr. Ferrer was awarded a 160GB digital memory drive for winning the award.
