Capiz products find another break in reg'l tourism assembly
BACOLOD CITY -- Capiz products have found another break at the market in the ongoing Western Visayas Tourism Assembly here.
Provincial Tourism Officer Alphonsus Tesoro said a number of businessmen have taken a fancy and placed orders for Capiz native fancy rice such as "malido" and "kalutak" and shellcraft products which are on exhibit at the products fair of the tourism event organized by the Department of Tourism (DOT).
Local products have generated similar positive market reactions in other regional and national trade fairs and tourism events.
Native fancy rice, which are valued for their exotic flavor, grows in Capiz's upland areas. The shellcraft products come from the enterprise of Corazon Balgos Tiangco in Roxas City, which along with other products such processed foods and cutfoliage have already fround their way into the export market.
The provincial government headed by Gov. Victor Tanco, Sr. and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) have drawn up a harmonized small and medium enterprise development plan to further develop and promote the products in line with the national government's program to boost the economy with contributions from the SME sector.
