Raul Sr. on SK prexy race: Leave them alone
Justice Secretary Raul Gonzalez Sr. called on certain city officials to stop meddling in the forthcoming election of Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) federation president.
Gonzalez's reaction came in the wake of reports that Vice Mayor Jed Mabilog, Councilor Armand Parcon and Councilor Antonio Pesina are going out of their way in ensuring the victory of their favored bets in the SK race.
Mabilog's nephew John Melchor Mabilog, Parcon's daughter Frances Grace, and Pesina's daughter Kesha are the strong contenders for the SK federation president.
Gonzalez said he is not happy with what is going on between Vice Mayor Mabilog and Councilors Parcon and Pesina. The three belong to Gonzalez's political group in the previous election.
Gonzalez said they (referring to the three officials) should teach the children of good politics and respect their idealism. "Indi sila (candidates) dapat pagpasampukon," Gonzalez added.
Both, Mabilog and Parcon already traded barbs over the SK federation race.
Gonzalez for his part did not categorically say whom to support for SK federation president. He said it is better left upon the judgment of the different SK chairmen themselves.
He, however, admitted that Mabilog went to see him over the candidacy of his nephew John Melchor. Parcon and Pesina also informed him of their daughters' plans.
Earlier, Donnalyn Rose Acap, daughter of Councilor Lyndon Acap, withdrew her bid to run for SK federation president reportedly due to the intervention of Vice Mayor Mabilog. Acap is also a known ally of Gonzalez.
Gonzalez advised Mabilog, Parcon and Pesina to "talk it out among themselves rather than exchanging words in the media."
Meanwhile, Gonzalez said he feels good that he is already back to his work. The secretary, however, was advised by his doctors to minimize his working hours.
