Trisikads are back
Yes, the trisikads(we are referring to those that were "eliminated" by Kagawad Plagata recently) are back in downtown Iloilo City. As expected Plagata failed to sustain the drive towards clearing the city streets of obstructions. Moreover, private vehicles are back in Iznart Street using both sides of the road as parking area. "Isa man lang gali ka bulan pwersa ni kagawad," says a barber at Ledesma Street. Well, what do we expect? There are several other city ordinances left unimplemented, or if not, are having "on and off" or "seasonal" implementation like the Anti-Smoking Ordinance, Anti-Jaywalking Ordinance, Anti-Littering, etc. What do you think Jam?
Arrogant statement
Vice Mayor Mabilog's admission that he is doing everything to help his nephew win as president of the SK federation in the city because he knows that his nephew is capable to be a leader is a statement that smacked of arrogance. Does that mean that the other aspirants like the daughters of Councilors Parcon and Pesina are not fit to become SK president? Or, what about those SK chairs who don't have politicians as parents, don't they have the capability to also become elected to the position? Being the vice mayor, Mabilog should have been circumspect in giving statements relative to the SK federation election imbroglio. Better yet, he should distance himself from the boiling issue out of "delicadeza." Why he keeps on speaking in behalf of his nephew is really puzzling. His brother, the father of John Melchor, who is also a newly-elected barangay captain does not even speak about the plan of his son. Tsk... tsk...
Potholes everywhere
If there are offices in the city government that need to be demolished for being useless it's got to be the City Engineers Office (CEO) and the City District Office of the Dept. of Public Works and Highways (DPWH). Perhaps, 70 percent of city roads are presently damaged. Potholes are found almost everywhere. Motorists have been complaining about these for quite a long time but nothing happened. We don't think people at the CEO and DPWH are not aware of this serious problem on our city roads. Ay te, matulog lang kamo da ya?
