Recon survey up on disputed boundary of Iloilo, Capiz towns
A team from the Office of the Field Network Survey and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) are out to do a reconnaissance survey on the disputed boundary of two towns covering the provinces of Iloilo and Capiz.
Involved in the dispute are the town of Lemery, Iloilo and Dumarao, Capiz with the reconnaissance survey requested by Lemery Mayor Mildred Arban. Iloilo Vice Governor Rolex Suplico endorsed said request with the DENR team sending its representatives alongside counterparts from the Office of Field Network Survey.
Previous attempts to settle the issue has been officially made with series of meetings and discussions between the involved town officials and locals.
Affected here are residents of five villages in the municipality of Lemery which of late were also claimed as part of Dumarao, Capiz.
The matter has since confused families here particularly land-owners with the legal concern yet to be resolved by government agencies concerned.
Questions also remain unanswered on the issue of jurisdiction with the concern then addressed by the previous Iloilo Sanggunian Panlalawigan
