Bacolod PNP seizes toy guns
BACOLOD CITY -- An estimated P10,000 worth of toy guns were seized by Negros Occidental Provincial Police operatives late Friday afternoon in the public markets of Talisay and Silay cities.
Sr. Supt. Rosendo Franco, provincial PNP director, said the drive is part of the efforts of the police to contain mounting cases of hold-up and robbery incidents involving the use of toy guns.
The toy guns which are replicas of real guns, Franco said, were confiscated from 10 retailers and stores, by joint operatives of the Talisay and Silay police stations and the Provincial Special Operations Group (SOG).
The police official said prior to the operations, the police made a series of public warnings against selling such types of toy guns.
The provincial police director said more operations against toy guns which are replicas of real guns are being conducted province-wide.
Store owners and vendors who were caught with the seized items, he said, were brought to their respective police stations for investigation and to help the police identify their suppliers.
Franco said he is reiterating the warning to vendors against selling such items. (PNA)
