Biron-Garin backed SK bets win
A total of 26 representatives of the Iloilo Sanggunian Kabataan (SK) sealed Monday's victory of the group reportedly backed by two Ilonggo "power" officials.
In the end, the seemingly 'easy' win meant yet another addition to the majority bloc with the SK representation in the Capitol for Dumangas SK president Guisseppe Karl " Bryan" Gumban.
In a report, The News Today (TNT) gathered that Gumban's opponent Pototan SK president Nonito Pasuelo Jr. got the backing of 17 colleagues. One vote was declared invalid.
The new SK officials of the Iloilo SK Federation are Lyle Adrianne Sitaca of Guimbal as Vice President, Zeina Florence Pareja of Maasin as Secretary, reigning Dinagyang beauty titlist Cara Jeanne Sullano of Sta. Barbara as treasurer.
Auditor is Lyn Salcedo of Sara, Public Relations Officer is Chriscember Nunez of Leganes and Kevin Angelo Buyco of Anilao as Seargeant-At-Arms.
Monday's elections saw the presence of a total of 43 youth leaders from Iloilo's 42 towns and one component city. The group decided who the SK official representatives are to be in the Iloilo Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP).
As such, the battle for the presidency will have Gumban as ex-officio member of the provincial board.
The SK representative will have equal legislative powers that is now said to yet be another addition to the majority bloc.
Ultimately the battle was indeed between Guisseppe "Karl Bryan" Gumban and Pototan's Nonito Pasuelo Jr.
Over-all it was a peaceful and orderly closed-door election supervised by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) here.
The SK bets were reportedly pushed and backed by the camp of Governor Niel Tupas Sr. and the group of Fourth District Congressman Ferjinel Biron.
After the SK polls comes the Liga presidency on December 29. Both ex-officio seats are said to be crucial for the current composition of the 9th SP body where the overwhelming majority are identified outside the graces of Governor Tupas.
