Battle up on Liga post in Capitol
Strategic planning and positioning heightens in two political blocs of Iloilo province. This, as municipal presidents of the Liga ng mga Barangay brace for Saturday's liga polls of its provincial federation officials.
The News Today (TNT) in a report gathered that main fight for the presidency will be a one-on-one battle from contenders of the Second and Fifth districts of Iloilo.
And like the campaign and over-all strategy used in the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) provincial federation polls, TNT also learned that the fight will see anew 'silent' backings of Ilonggo officials.
Latest development disclosed efforts pushing for the candidacy of comebacking Capitol official Jeneda Salcedo of Sara, Iloilo. A former ex-officio board member representing the SK, Salcedo graduated from her post and won the seat for the town's liga presidency.
Salcedo's purported opponent is one Joebert Añes of San Miguel, Iloilo and reported to enjoy the solid backing and organizational support of Governor Niel Tupas.
The liga seat in the capitol will determine whether the majority bloc further get another strength seen in Salcedo's candidacy. While an Añes victory is expected to be yet another welcomed addition to the minority.
The liga elections is set on Saturday and set to be supervised by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG).
A total of 43 liga presidents coming from the province's 42 towns and component city of Passi will cast votes to replace the outgoing provincial federation officials.
