Indiscriminate firing? TXT 2920
Roxas City -- Philippine National Police chief, Director General Avelino I. Razon Jr. has urged the public to report any incident of illegal discharge of firearms to police authorities through TXT 2920 and Patrol 117 for immediate police response.
This was announced recently by the PNP Chief to prevent trigger happy policemen and private individuals in the coming Christmas and New Year celebrations.
The TxT PNP 2920 is a nationwide text messaging service project designed by the police authorities as an anti-criminal response program.
Razon has also ordered his commanders in the regions to intensify intelligence build up and target hardening of potential terrorist targets, such as economic key points, critical infrastructure, airports and seaports, and other public places, and to conduct active defense to prevent threat groups from consolidating their forces and disrupting the peaceful and orderly celebration of Christmas and New Year.
All PNP field commanders were also ordered to ensure police visibility in public places especially in areas of convergence of people by activating the Police Security Containment Ring System (PSCRS) and integrated patrol system, and to conduct random mobile checkpoints to preempt criminal elements and terrorist groups from carrying out their nefarious activities.
In Capiz, policemen's issued firearms will be closely-fit with masking tapes despite continuing reminders and warning on the consequences of indiscriminate firing of guns this coming holiday celebrations.
Capiz Police Director Senior Supt. Roberto Villanueva will lead the more than 600 provincial police force in the ranks in the compliance of policies in curbing holiday-related incidents. (PIA)
