Treñas disgusted over Christmas blackout
City Mayor Jerry Treñas will call for a meeting with the officials of the National Transmission Commission (Transco), Panay Electric Company Inc. (Peco) and Panay Power Corporation (PPC) to ensure that power interruption similar to that on Christmas Day will not happen during the New Year celebration.
Treñas could not hide his disappointment over the citywide black-out which occurred during the Christmas Day celebrations.
Treñas who felt bad of last Tuesday's citywide blackout said he could not understand such thing happened during Christmas Day when Transo, Peco and PPC only lacks one megawatt power to address the needs of the Ilonggos.
The Ilonggos are having fun and celebration when the black out happened. "Kasubo gid sang aton Christmas (We really had a sad Christmas)," Treñas said.
The power trip off affected the commercial establishments, houses and churches.
He also lamented that the operation of Peco and PPC suffered every time there is a problem with the Transco transmission.
"I could not understand why they also cut their power supply. There is a supply of 15 megawatts from Transco while Peco and PPC have a load of 60 megawatts. The city needs 66 megawatts," the mayor said.
