Lesser New Year's Eve injuries reported in Negros Occidental
BACOLOD CITY -- There were lesser firecracker injuries reported in Bacolod City and Negros Occidental this Christmas and New Year's Eve.
Sr. Supt. Rosendo Franco, provincial police director, said the whole province generally had peaceful Christmas and New Year celebrations as it recorded only 32 cases of firecracker-related incidents.
Franco said the figure is lower than last year's incidents.
He noted Valladolid town topped the number of cases as it reported 10 persons being treated at the town's hospital for injuries caused by firecrackers, followed by Bago City with seven incidents, and the municipality of Hinigaran with five cases.
Only nine firecracker incidents in the cities of Kabankalan, Silay and Victorias, and Pulupandan town were recorded by the police, Franco added.
Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) director, Sr. Supt. Ronilo V. Quebrar, also reported lesser number of firecraker-related injuries during Christmas and New Year celebrations.
Quebrar said Bacolod was also generally peaceful during the revelry. (PNA)
