Baciwa switches on new well, pumping station facility
BACOLOD CITY -- The Bacolod City Water District (Baciwa) inaugurated and activated on Wednesday another well and pumping station facility with a capacity of 50 liters per second.

Julie Ann Carbon, BACIWA general manager told PNA the new well and pumping station facility, located at Upper Barangay Mansilingan in Bacolod City, will boost water supply to its 35,000 concessionaires and will further improve delivery to Barangays Alijis, Singcang, Mansilingan, Taculing and the Libertad Market area.
Carbon said the facility named Bore Hole Number 6, is the 8th new well and pumping station facility to be activated since last year, with four more to be activated soon.
"Bacolod is growing. It's need for adequate potable water supply has more than tripled in 10 years. As part of the govermment's efforts to ensure steady supply, we are embarking on projects like this to address and anticipate the growing need," she said.
She urged Bacolenos to conserve water, saying priority efforts of the water district is to look for more water sources and further improve its systems, and at the same time campaigning for conserving water. (PNA)
