Suplico to guv: 'Where is Buenavacz?'
Iloilo Vice Governor Rolex Suplico wants answers on the whereabouts of David Buenavacz, celebrity financial advisor of Iloilo Governor Niel Tupas Sr.
This, as efforts persist to push for the construction of the P350 million Iloilo Capitol Convention Center despite lack of legislative approval.
For the vice governor, it is but just and proper that the governor himself should now tell the Ilonggo people where his financial advisor is.
The project though officially hangs with the 9th Iloilo Sanggunian Panlalawigan (SP) approving the earlier proposal to rescind the contract. Yet sources from the governor's camp insist otherwise saying it is just a matter of time and the convention center as pushed by Buenavacz will see realization.
The vice governor's call made in the midst of unresolved controversy involving Buenavacz and the alleged mutli-million embezzlement fiasco of a high-end aesthetic center.
"Since Governor Tupas pushes for it, may we ask him where we can find Buenavacz then?," Suplico quipped. "And the issues hounding Buenavacz, this just confirms our suspicions that he is incompetent and not capable of designing the convention center and was not really qualified to do the feasibility study."
The vice governor further pointed out earlier statements made by government auditors and planners that gave a thumbs-down on the Buenavacz-designed P350 million Capitol project.
Not a feasibility study, he stressed as likewise categorized by Ilonggo public accountants. Not within the standards of a sound feasibility study, Vice Governor Suplico added as also stated by the representatives of the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA).
"So really, it confirmed our suspicions and doubts on Buenavacz," Suplico ended.
While at it, the vice governor raised yet another question on whether the P350 million project had anything to do on the Buenavacz mauling in November.
"Did money change hands?," he asked. Buenavacz in a news wire was quoted though as having identified his attackers as those belonging to yet another company and not the Strategic and Comprehensive Consultants Incorporated (SCCI).
The SCCI and Buenavacz made representations with the Iloilo Provincial Government relative to the P350 million Capitol deal.
