Treñas wants regulated use of flyover
Newly opened flyover at the intersection of
M.H. Del Pilar and Infate Streets.
City Mayor Jerry Treñas has called on the Traffic Technical Working Group (TTWG) to come up with a scheme that would govern the use of the newly opened flyover at the intersection of M.H. Del Pilar and Infate Streets.
This, after Treñas received repsorts that even people riding pedicabs (traysikad) and bikes pass through the flyover.
Treñas said pedicabs and bikes should not be allowed to pass the flyover because they would hinder other motor vehicles since pedicabs and bikes are relatively slow.
The mayor also observed that there are vehicles which suddenly make a "u-turn" in the lower portion of the flyover causing disturbance on the flow of the vehicles.
Treñas said the TTWG should devise a scheme in order to avoid accidents in the area.
Meanwhile, the flyover vicinity is already lighted courtesy of the lights donated by Globe Telecommunications which were initially installed the other day.
Treñas observed that the flow of traffic in M.H. Del Pilar - General Luna streets has improved after flyover was opened to the public last December 30, 2007.
Meanwhile, the city government has yet to decide on what to do with the vacant spaces under the vehicular flyover. Treñas hinted that the vacant spaces could either be used as paid parking area or could be landscaped so it would be good to the eye.
