Army chief visits 3ID headquarters

Philippine Army chief Lt. Gen. Alexander B. Yano visited the Third Infantry Division (3ID) headquarters in Camp Peralta, Jamindan, Capiz last January 14, 2008. He was received by Maj. Gen. Jovenal Narcise, Commander of 3ID.
Yano is a member of Philippine Military Academy (PMA) "Magilas" Class of 1976, who hails from Sindangan, Zamboanga del Norte. He became the first in his PMA batch to head a brigade and later on earned his first star.
He was also the first to head an army division, and earned his second star, and the first so far among his classmates in the academy to head an area command.
Yano earned 39 military awards including five distinguished conduct star awards, the Philippine Legion of Honor and a gold cross medal for gallantry in combat. Prior to his present appointment as Commanding General, Philippine Army, he was the Commander of 2nd Infantry (Jungle Fighter) Division, and Southern Luzon Command, respectively.
During his speech, Yano thanked all the 3ID troopers for their continued support to the peace and development efforts in the Visayas. Such accomplishments have contributed to the attainment of the mission not only for the Philippine Army but to the whole Armed Forces as well.
He also challenged the soldiers to remain united and focused on their mission, maintain its apolitical stance, do away with military adventurism, and continue to perform their mandate of protecting the freedom and democracy of the Filipino People.
