Regulation up on KTVs, beerhouses
Iloilo's tourist destination in the south has now strengthened its regulation on the operations of beerhouses, nightspots and karaoke or KTV bars here. Expect as well bar workers "not in skimpy attire" with moves deemed as trigger factor of guests' "sexual arousal." And a definite "no" too on any construction of cubicles, rooms and closed structures for private viewing or performances.
This, following the concerns raised by town officials amidst the proliferation of such and numerous complaints from locals.
Subject of Municipal Ordinance No. 102-2007 pushed by Councilors Mario Luis Garibay Sr., Dolores Lencioco and Gregorio Genzola, corresponding approval has now been sought before the 9th Iloilo Sanggunian Panlalawigan (SP).
With the new ruling, limitations are now up on both the operation of the establishments and workers here. Particular prohibition was identified on the showing of any public act or performance deemed indecent and lewd acts.
From now on, it is a no-no in Guimbal nightspots to have bar girls (and 'boys') to wear skimpy attire "or perform any act which appeals to the prurient interest of a person or is intended to arouse a person's sexual interest." And "skimpy attire" is defined here as "any of the performer's underwear is either partially or fully exposed."
If violated, a fine ranging from P1,500 to P2,500 awaits alongside possible cancellation of business permits and licenses to operate.
Future construction of similar establishments should also be at leas 150 meters away from government buildings and offices, educational institutions and houses of worship. Those within the prohibited zones are now given ten months to comply with this requirement.
