Video presentations promoting Iloilo City in the works
After the successful Dinagyang Festival, the city government will embark on another mode to further promote Iloilo City towards its vision of becoming a Premiere City by 2015.
The city government will be coming up with a video documentation of Iloilo City's food and churches as well as other attractions.
Mayor Jerry Treñas said they want a sustainable promotion of Iloilo's best aside from the Dinagyang festival. There are several aspects in Iloilo City's rich culture from its food and preferred tourist destinations.
Recently, the city government came up with a video presentation on Ilonggo's cuisine entitled A Glimpse of Ilonggo Cooking. It featured Ilonggo favorites such as adobado, bulalo, kinilaw, grilled squid, fish and other all-time favorites.
Treñas said they decided to showcase Ilonggo cuisine since there are people who, aside from watching the festival, wants to taste the food served in the different restaurants. Their (tourists) market varies as tourists and visitors have their own preferences for them to enjoy their stay, said Treñas.
The video presentation was distributed to tourists during Dinagyang festival.
Treñas said they are hoping to have a video production of all the churches in Iloilo to further advance the tourism industry in the city. There are also people who aside from enjoying the festival and food wants to visit the different churches in the city.
The frequently visited church here is the St. Anne Parish Church or commonly known as Molo Church. Its structure show a Gothic-Renaissance style.
Aside from Molo Church, tourists also visit the Jaro Cathedral and Arevalo Church. In Iloilo City, each district has its own church. The third oldest Sto. Niño image is found in Arevalo while visitors flock to the Jaro Cathedral to pay a visit to the image of Our Lady of Candles or Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria. Her feast is celebrated every second day of February.
The continuous promotion for Iloilo is part of Treñas's dream to make Iloilo a Premiere City by 2015. His dream is to sell Iloilo in terms of tourism and business opportunities. It also included the construction of major infrastructure projects such as the Infante vehicular fly-over.
