'Bantay Banwa' to help address Bacolod traffic problems
Bacolod City -- Bacolod Mayor Evelio R. Leonardia with Councilor Wilson "Jun" Gamboa, chairman ofn the committee on traffic management, met with the members of the Bantay Banwa recently to listen to their suggestions on how to minimize the traffic problem of the city.
Bantay Banwa is a private group composed of businessmen and planters in Bacolod City whose motto is: "Stop Complaining, Do Something".
The meeting was focused on decongesting traffic in the city, particularly along Lacson Street, the business street of the city. This route will be greatly affected by the continuous flow of incoming and outgoing vehicles, private and public utility, due to the New Bacolod-Silay Airport of International Standards.
Gamboa said he is planning to propose to the SP an ordinance to give drivers the power to police their own ranks. Gamboa compares it to the cities of Makati, Quezon, Cebu and some of our neighboring cities in the province of Negros Occidental with such ordinance. (CMO/PIA)
