Designation of information officers urged anew
With government information work getting challenging every day, each agency has to designate personnel who can focus on information work most of the time.

Mesa said the dynamism of the flow of government information relies on the competence of Information Officers (IO) and the priority the agencies give to the need to communicate what they are doing for the people.
The PIA director also said that a representation with the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) for the designation of an IO per agency of government as well as per municipality and city.
The PIA proposed for the merger of the associations of national government information officers and that of the cities and municipalities, firstly, to strengthen membership and secondly, make communication and information work effective down the local government units.
The IOs agreed to start the merger during the meeting which will be held on February 15, where they will also draw up activities to perk up the IOs.
Trade and Industry Regional Information Officer Ruby Melliza said they in the national agencies need the linkage with the community development information officers for information to cascade down the local levels, as well as for local activities to be brought up for documentation and widest possible dissemination.
