More law enforcers coming up!
Roland Lacson, the guest speaker
Men and women who passed the October 2007 board exam for new criminilogists finally took their oath last Feb. 8, 2008 at the Iloilo Grand Hotel.
No less than the son of Senator Panfilo Lacson, who happens to be his chief of staff, Roland Lacson, graced the occasion. He gave the new policemen and women a view of what modern criminology is all about. He also cited his father's accomplishment of disciplining the ranks, leading to public servants worthy of the community's respect. He enjoined those present to strive and provide everyone the opportunity that they need so they could avoid the life of crime.
Blesilda Masangcay, officer-in-charge of the Professional Regulation Commission Region 6, challenged and inspired those present to nurture the spirit of professionalism within the system so that respect for law enforcers are revived. "You are equipped and qualified to do such," she said.

She cited two of the many problems plaguing our system. One, some law enforcers are law breakers, but it's a good thing that they were sacked. This will serve as an inspiration to these young and idealistic newcomers. Then, there's the old boy network which gave birth to the reward system based on "utang na loob" and not on merit. Thus, good law enforcers are at the lowest of ranks, while those who are not deserving hold high positions.
With these new law enforcers coming in, we hope that more cleansing is going to take place.
