Sailboat from Tigbauan rules 36th Paraw Regatta
There is a mix of winners in this year's Paraw Regatta competition as far as the places of origin of the contestants. Last year, the major winners all came from the Tigbauan and Iloilo City.
The first and second place winner in the Category A went to Rogelio Gareza of Parara Sur, Tigbauan. His entry Joseph 2 got the first place and his Joseph 1 entry came second. The builder of the two sailboats was Fediricio Tantiado Jr. While, the 3rd place went to sailboat Arlyn own by Orlando Demetillo of Camangay, Leganes. He is also the builder of the sailboat.
In the Category B, the 1st prize went to sailboat Kristine owned by Oscar Espinosa of Sto. Niño Sur, Arevalo. The paraw builders were Henry and Jade Tañagras. The second place went to sailboat Din-Din and Kent owned by Ulyses Toreno of Camangay, Leganes and 3rd place is sailboat Cherilyn also owned by Rogelio Gareza and built by Federico Tantiado Jr.
The first prize winner in the Category A received P14,400 cash prize; 2nd - P9,600 and 3rd - P7,200 and for the Category B, the 1st prize winner received P18,000 cash prize; 2nd - P14,000 and 3rd - P12,000. Painted sailboat owners received an additional incentive from the Iloilo Paraw Regatta Foundation Inc. (IDFI).
For the miniature paraw race the winners for the Category A is sailboat Dintag's; 2nd - Palos and 3rd - Jomy. In the Category B, the 1st prize winner is sailboat Boknoy; 2nd - Nina and Issiah and 3rd - 2 B.
While, the winners in the 3rd Samba de Regatta are as follow: champion - Grupo Latino; 1st prize Grupo Ilonggos; 2nd prize Grupo Las Brillas; 3rd Grupo Los Amigos and 4th Grupo Scandinavian/Musica. The Best Music award went to Grupo Latino; Best Costume Grupo Latino and Best Paradise Contingent Grupo Los Amigos.
