Barangay dads given 10 days to reactivate BADAC
City Mayor Jerry Treñas has given ten days for the 180 punong barangays in the city to reactivate their respective Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council (Badac). The order was contained in an executive order Treñas recently handed down.
In his executive order, Treñas directed barangays that have already inactive Badac to revitalize the council while those barangays that have no Badac are mandated to establish the council upon receipt of his order. The order was signed last February 21, 2008.
Treñas also ordered the barangay captains to submit the list of those who composed their Badac one week from its creation or reactivation. Barangay officials are also asked to furnish the list of their Badac's composition to their respective police station commanders, Iloilo City Anti-Drug Abuse Council (Icadac) and the City DILG one week
The barangay captains were also asked to have a regular meeting at least once a month. The chief executive should likewise be updated on the status of illegal drug situation and other related issues that popped up during their meeting.
In the recent police assessment, 15 barangays in the city are seriously affected by illegal drugs. It was not immediately known whether there are some changes on the list.
