DFA warns of non-existent job placements in Israel
The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) recently warned Filipinos seeking employment in Israel to be wary of individuals or illegal recruiters offering them hotel works in Israel.
The DFA said that the Philippine Embassy in Tel Aviv reported that there are no job openings for hotel workers in the State of Israel.
"The post warns the public on false information circulating regarding a job order processed in the Embassy for this category," the DFA said in its press report.
Jobseekers in Israel are also urged to communicate with the Philippine Embassy and the Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO) on the status of the employment agencies, particularly, whether they are accredited by the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) and on the veracity and legality of the job orders to avoid being victimized by these unscrupulous agents.
Likewise, the public is urged to immediately report recruitment activities for this non-existent job to the Philippine Embassy or Israel's Ministry Of Labor.
To protect the welfare of the Overseas Filipino Workers, President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo has ordered the strengthening of efforts against illegal recruitment before 2007 ended. She ordered the Department of Labor and Employment to come up with stiffer measures against illegal recruiters. (PIA)
