'Better Philippines' as 'Mahal Ko Bayan Ko' kicks off Iloilo campaign
Iloilo plays host today to 'Mahal Ko Bayan Ko,' (MKBK) an advocacy group focused on current and future government programs of the country. With primary aim at strengthening the socio-economic development plans of the Philipines, noted lawyer Salvador Panelo is in town to help the spread the word – the Filipinos are not only in good hands but in better hands with the Arroyo Administration.
Among the discussions Panelo wants to share with the Ilonggo populace are the administration's efforts in economic programs, credit he said, goes to a "very hardworking President" in President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.
A positive Gross Domestic Product (GDP), balanced Budget, single-digit inflation rate, stronger peso, consistent infrastructure and tourism thrusts, Oversease Filipino Workers (OFW) protection in place and OFW increasing remittances, for Panelo, the MKBK is yet another timely drive nationwide.
The MKBK likewise pushes for unity while rallying religious support "and to guide the students." Similar sentiments on the military which the group recognized "are doing roles correctly particularly in exercising maximum tolerance during rallies."
In all these, the MKBK said, political stability is the key saying such is "necessary for investor confidence and continued support of the ASEAN and APEC and for stock market bouyancy."
"Issues hounding the Philippines – all these are being rightfully addressed," the MKBK added. "Graft and corruption for instance, we have laws and the process are in place. The call for moral regeneration of values, the MKBK recognizes and pushes for everybody's role thus the change in ourselves as the perfect start. The highly-controversial NDN deal and role of the First Gentleman (FG) in the country's affairs, there is no written evidence on it and FG is ill now so we call on the citizenry for moral support."
