Sta. Ana Parish presents Lenten musical today
In observance of the Holy Week, the Sta. Ana Parish in Molo District will present a musical Lenten show entitled "Bakit Ako Panginoon" to awaken and deepen the faith of the people and enhance the impact of this season through songs.
The public is encouraged to come today (Wednesday), 3 p.m. for the matinée show and 7 p.m. at the Sta. Ana Parish Church to hear songs reflecting Christ's life, death and resurrection. The musical play was inspired by the all-Filipino original Christian music album "Papuri 12." There will also be some inclusions from other albums reflecting the season of Lent.
"Bakit Ako Panginoon" (Why me Lord?) is a question frequently raised whenever a person is in despair and hopeless.
Among the songs included in the presentation are: Kagalingan, Sa Gabing Ito Ako'y Iiwan Ninyong Lahat (the bleak night in the Garden of Gethsemane); Bakit Ako Panginoon, Ito ang Aking Katawan; Ang Haring Palabigasan, Ganap Na, Hindi Ko Kilala ang Taong Yan! (Peter's denial); Natutulog Ba ang Diyos? and a lot more.
Notably, the songs also reflect the story of the 12 Apostles, life of Mary Magdalene, doubting-turned believing Thomas, resurrection and descent of the Holy Spirit to the Apostles. The songs will be rendered by the Parish Music Ministry, composed mostly of teenagers.
According to Rev. Fr. Tomas Delicana Jr, parish priest of Sta. Ana Parish, "music speaks to the heart in ways words cannot." Delicana, himself a music lover, invites not only the people from Molo but all faithfuls to watch the show. He is executive producer of the musical show.
The show's director is Carmichael Cerbolles while Donella Zamudio is assistant director. The in-charge for the stage production is John Laroder.
The role as Jesus will be played by Thomas Ea; Mary (Thessalonia Molo); Magdalena (Jennifer Batacoling); Boy (Luis Manuel Canlas) and Girl (Mary Lord Salinas).
The 12 Apostles are Pedro (Michale Cerbolles); Judas (Jonnel Floreno); Juan (Ruel Blancaflor); Tomas (Reynante Leonida); Andres (Joseph Apines); Santiago1 (Ulizes Raquel), Simon (Alden Agudo); Bartolome (Salvador Escalarga); Felipe (Red Melgar); Mateo (Wildeson Popelo), Santiago 2 ( Melicio de la Cruz) and Tadeo (Michael Panelo). There are also 21 teenagers who will carry the role as taong bayan.
