Tokyo University dances at Barbecue Park
It was a rare cultural experience for diners at Barbecue Park when the students from the Tokyo University of Foreign Studies rendered Philippine folk dances for them.
The Japanese student dancers were accompanied by instrumentalists from the Ramon Obusan Folkloric Group.
Apart from the dances and the coloful costumes, the diners were entertained by Philippine songs and narrations by the said students.
The delegation was composed of 27 students and faculty as well as staff from the Philippine Embassy in Tokyo. The group also performed in Dumaguete, Cebu and Manila as part of their course in Philippine studies. Their performance at Barbecue Park and some educational institutions here was facilitated by Edwin Duero, owner of the ECD Dance Company of the Philippines.
After the performances, the students ate Barbecue Park's famous grilled specialties and were treated to mangoes and watermelons, which they really considered as "manamit."
