ARBs engaged in SME mark 1st year with assembly
Roxas City -- Agrarian Reform beneficiaries in six barangays of Ivisan, Capiz recently gathered for their first anniversary and general assembly, March 30.
Information Officer Carlette Pretta of the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) Capiz said that the first anniversary and general assembly of members of the CAMMMA Small Farmers Multipurpose Cooperative conducted the election of the new set of officers for this year.
Pretta said that CAMMMA multipurpose cooperative is represented by farmer beneficiaries from barangays Cabugao, Agmalobo, Malocloc Norte, Malocloc Sur, Mianay and Agustin Navarra.
Said farmers are beneficiaries under the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP) of the DAR, she said.
Aside from the election of new set of officers, the organization will also assess on cooperative's activities and financial status.
The CAMMMA SFMC, which is the 16th Agrarian Reform Community (ARC) in Capiz, has been engaged in copra buying, rice trading, lending and pickle processing, Pretta said.
Capiz has 16 active ARCs that are given support by the DAR through inter-agency collaboration.
Agrarian Reform Secretary Nasser Pangandaman earlier revealed that there were 1,934 Agrarian Reform Communities (ARCs) and Special Agrarian Reform Communities (SARCs) nationwide have been confirmed last year. (PIA)
