Public warned: Fake Cuevas on the loose
The public is warned against an impostor using the name of Police Regional Office (PRO) 6 Regional Director Chief Supt. Isagani R. Cuevas in soliciting cash donations for an alleged heart transplant operation sponsored by PRO 6.
The information reaching the PRO 6 Headquarters in Camp Delgado came from Chief Inspector Arnel D. Arpon, Chief of Police of Sipalay City Negros Occidental. Arpon reportedly received text messages from the said impostor asking him to deposit P10,000 – P30,000 through Western Union for the said project.
Arpon received the series of text messages on April 13, beginning from 11:45 a.m. He immediately called the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office Director, Senior Superintendent Rosendo C. Franco to confirm the instruction and number of alleged texter.
Supt. Franco then informed Chief Insp. Arpon that the mobile number used by the person posing as Chief Supt. Cuevas was fake.
PRO 6 Spokesperson, Senior Supt. Ranulfo I. Demiar, also confirmed that Cuevas was not soliciting funds for the alleged project.
With this incident, Cuevas warned everyone against this modus operandi of unscrupulous persons victimizing even police personnel and probably the innocent civilian.
Last year, former PRO 6 Director, Chief Supt. Wilfredo V. Dulay Sr., was also a victim of an unidentified person extorting money from businessmen here.
"We are investigating this incident. For the meantime, please beware!" Cuevas said. (PRO 6-PIO)
