BFAR assures WV has sufficient fishery production
Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) Regional Dir. Drussellah Ong has assured that Western Visayas has sufficient fishery production to meet the daily consumption requirements of the people here.
Ms. Ong said that based on their statistics last 2007 the region had a fishery production of more than 408,350 metric tons which showed the highest growth rate so far of 6.11 per cent.
Ong further said that because of the remarkable increase last year on fishery production as compared with the previous years growth rate of only around 2.25 per cent they expect to again have a higher production this 2008.
She attributed the positive outcome to the fishery sector projects being assisted by BFAR in the provinces of Antique and Aklan.
These provinces are producing well seaweeds, bangus and tilapia which are in demand in the market.(PNA)
