Roxas City Sizzles
DJ Villaruz
It had been a while since the quaint city of Roxas had seen such a big social gathering when a pool side summer party titled THE GRIND was held at the Villareal Memorial Stadium a few moons ago.
This was organized by the SAVE OLOTAYAN, Inc headed by Powell del Rosario, Provincial Board Member Rommel Lastimoso, Karen Villaruz, including Smiles and Clicks, Ysabel's Bar, and Chill Bar. They summoned their pals for a night of non-stop disco dancing party in aid for the clean up drive project for Olotayan, Roxas City's only island barangay with a population of 1200, which was declared as a marine sanctuary through a city ordinance. What was originally planned as an exclusive party for a small group became a big event when they got an enthusiastic response from the young and environmentally concerned people of Roxas City.
By 9 pm, a cascade of bright young things poured into the venue , some dove straight to the pool and others were thrown to the pool. Most opted for the bar for some cool beer, heady cocktails (Absolut Vodka mixed with Lipovitan) and a wide array of bar chows.
The Crowd
It was a night of fashion as well, because everyone was asked to come in their most comfortable summer outfit -- fantastic girls in micro mini or hot shorts paired with tank tops , shirtless hunks in board shorts , fashionistas in linen get-ups with their slinky leather sandals, and young beautiful ladies in bathing suits under their sun dresses. They all looked simply divine!
The line up of guests disc jockeys was something else too. They were DJs Soulcism (Rommel Lastimoso, Jericho Aguila and Jim Ponce who is a producer/ director of MTV Philippines), DJ Joanne, and one of my favorite disc jockey DJ Jayvee Villaruz of Embassy at the Fort which certainly got the party started with a fierce set of R&B, house, hip-hop to club music that impressed even the coolest attendees. Adding more entertainment were the Boracay fire dancer and FHM models who grind wildly all night long to the utter delight of everybody.
Ladies all around
These youngsters- they never seem to get tired! I can't blame them. After all, it was one big successful party! Cheers!
