ROTC advocacy
Coming from the four provinces of Panay and Negros Occidental, approximately 300 young and able men converged at Headquarters, 6th Regional Community Defense Group, Army Reserve Command, Camp General Adrian D. Hernandez, Dingle, Iloilo last month for their graduation of their ROTC Summer Camp Training. These young men are Batch of ROTC Summer Camp Training for CY-2008 in preparation for their plan to take - up the 2nd Class ROTC Advance Military Science - 31/32 and also as prerequisite in taking up the Philippine Army Advance ROTC Examination (PAARE). Upon passing the standard minimum score, the ROTC cadets will subsequently receive a considerable amount as cash augmentation for their school expenses in college.
The 45-day vigorous training for the ROTC cadets was designed to train and develop Reserve Officers of the Armed Forces of the Philippines so that they will be ready and capable to discharge their roles and functions as Reserve Unit leaders in the future. Significantly, out of the overall participants of the ROTC Summer Camp Training, 100 participants are from the 603rd Community Defense Center, 6th Regional Defense Group, Army Reserve Command, Camp Antonio Belo, Brgy. Timpas, Panit-an, Capiz. The group represents ROTC units of different colleges and universities in the province of Capiz.
The significant number of ROTC cadets to join the said training clearly proves that Capiceños are very much willing to submit their own free will to support and defend the Constitution of the Republic of the Philippines. To add color to the aforementioned idealism, Former President Winston Churchill, in front of the British Parliament lauded our Forefathers and said: "Filipino Soldiers have no equal in the world." It is believed that even today, many still reincarnate the same ideals, courage, discipline and sense of pride of those Filipino Soldiers mentioned by late President Churchill. In this regard, let us continue our support to the ROTC.
