Construction of Iloilo flood control project ahead of schedule
The construction of the Iloilo Flood Control Project (IFCP) is ahead of schedule based on the revised completion target, the first quarter report of the regional monitoring committee led by the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) showed.
The almost P4-billion project is composed of two packages.
Package 1 with a revised project cost of P1.58 billion is being handled by the Hanjin Heavy Industries. It is 48.72 percent completed, ahead by .02 percent based on the Sept. 9, 2010 target completion date.
The package consists of the 4.75-kilometer Jaro floodway and the improvement of six bridges and two rivers.
The Jaro floodway is 44.34 percent completed; Pagsanga-an Bridge, 85.88 percent; Anilao Bridge, 94.81; Tacas Bridge, 91.14; Balabago Bridge, 78.92; Buhang Bridge, 51.06; Bito-on Bridge, 56.91 percent.
The completion of the 3.88-kilometer Aganan River improvement is pegged at 27. 16 percent while the improvement of the 2.9-kilometer Tigum River is at 38.11 percent.
Package 2 on the other hand, which includes improvement of the Jaro River mouth, Iloilo River, Upper Ingore Creek and the construction of the Carpenter's Bridge is almost 78.91 percent completed, ahead by about 4.12 percent.
The accomplishment of the improvement of the Jaro River Mouth is at 92. 71 percent; Iloilo River, 81.14 percent; Upper Ingore Creek, 58.88 percent and Carpenter's Bridge, 95.72 percent.
Its project cost is P906.3 million and is expected to be completed on Feb 7, 2010 by the China International Water and Electric Corporation, the contractor. (PNA)
