NFA reassures Western Visayas of rice sufficiency
National Food Authority (NFA) OIC-Regional Director Vilma Zarraga reassured the people of Western Visayas of rice sufficiency with a buffer stock of 760,000 bags of palay.
Zarraga said the buffer stock, based on the daily consumption of the people in the region, will last for 72 days.
With the start of first cropping soon, the NFA official said there is no reason for the people to be wary of a rice shortage.
The selling price of rice is between P26 and P30 per kilo for the regular well-milled and P30-40 per kilo for the well-milled.
These prices are higher compared to the market prices in other regions. (PNA)
