ATO to raise airport rates in new Iloilo airport by September
The Air Transportation Office (ATO) is set to increase its airport rates in September after it has submitted all the documentary requirements to the Department of Transportation and Communication (DOTC).
ATO manager Alan Java said after accomplishing all the requirements for the increase, they hope that the DOTC will act on their requested increase to cope with the operational expenses at the airport.
He said the New Iloilo Airport Development Project (NIADP), which celebrated its one year anniversary over the weekend, needs to generate more income because of bigger budgetary requirement.
Java was referring to the proposed increase on the terminal fee, paid parking spaces, concessions of airline companies, spaces rented by cargo forwarders and gift shops.
The current P30 terminal fee at NIADP will be raised to P250 if the DOTC will act favorably to the proposed increase rates.
Prior to the proposed airport rates adjustment, ATO conducted a series of hearings.
"The terminal fee will go up by more than 300 percent," Java said.
Charges on parking spaces, concessions of airline companies, space rentals by cargo forwarders and gift shops will also be raised as proposed. (PNA)
