Iloilo City gov't regulates sizes street banners and streamers
The city government here, through executive order 34-2880 signed by Mayor Jerry P. Treñas, came out with a prescribed size of banners and streamers that will be displayed on streets and other public places.
The city government's move came as it recognized the dangers these large streamers may cause to motorists.
The directive, that took effect last Monday, prescribed that the maximum size of street banners must not exceed three feet by seven feet while three feet by nine feet for streamers.
"Besides distracting motorists' attention, the proliferation of large banners and streamers pose danger to both pedestrians and drivers," Treñas said.
The order also prohibits the placing of streamers and banners in island and traffic sign posts.
The mayor likewise instructed the Permit and License Division not to give permit to those who will not follow the required sizes of banners and streamers.
The local executive said banners or streamers posted exceeding the required size will be removed immediately. (PNA)
