Iloilo province has more than P133 million surplus in 2007
The provincial government of Iloilo has a total surplus of P133,442,026.00 for the year 2007, Gov. Niel D. Tupas, Sr. announced Thursday.
Gov. Tupas said that the surplus is due to good fiscal management and the austerity measures instituted in 2007.
"Every year we have a surplus but this year is much bigger," the governor said.
The governor said that the 2006 surplus was only P53,809,356.84.
With the big surplus, the governor intends to use portion of it for the construction of additional hospital buildings in Pototan, Sara and Balasan aside from purchasing modern medical equipments.
Gov. Tupas said that he also intends to have irrigation canals repaired to ensure high rice production in Iloilo province this year. (PNA)
