PGMA arrives in Panit-an, Capiz today
President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo will lead the inauguration of the 15-megawatt diesel mobile generating set in Panit-an, Capiz today.
Presidential Adviser for Western Visayas Raul Banias said the 15-mw diesel generating set is a fulfillment of half of the 30-megawatt commitment by the National Power Corporation (Napocor) and other energy sector agencies in response to the power shortage in Panay.
"This is a commitment of the national government of President Arroyo to address the power shortage in Panay Island. Hopefully, this will alleviate our need for power in the island," he added.
After the inauguration, the President will administer the oath-taking ceremony of the newly-elected officers of the Press Photographers of the Philippines Iloilo and Aklan-Boracay chapters also in Panit-an, Capiz.
The President's trip to Capiz would be her third visit to Western Visayas the first being in Bacolod City where she graced the Local Peace and Order Summit and just recently was in Aklan where she inaugurated a newly-completed bridge in Ibajay town. (PNA)
